Hotelito Desconocido is a beachfront resort quite unlike any other. This magical and extraordinary hotel is surely the most romantic place in Mexico. It combines the tranquility of virgin beaches and a blue lagoon in the middle of a natural protected zone that radiates beauty, providing first-class hotel services and amenities. Hotelito Desconocido is absolutely committed to preserving these surroundings and making as little impact as possible on the environment — the hotel runs on solar power by day, and at night is illuminated solely by candlelight.

It is located in the heart of Costalegre, Jalisco, between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre Occidental, only 60 km from Puerto Vallarta. The set of landscapes and water near Hotelito Desconoicdo create a year-round microclimate. Hotelito which is located inside the lagoon “El Ermitaño is s a bird paradise aquifer. In these latitudes, there are dozens of miles of pristine beach that serves as sanctuary for sea turtles, which arrive on Hotelito’s shores. There are few places in the world where one feels closer to nature and so far from the modern world than at the Hotelito.

Accommodations are in 'Palafitos', bungalows of indigenous construction, built on stilts over the edge of the estuary that surrounds the main group of structures. These were decorated by artisans from the region and offer large private areas, combining contemporary design aesthetics with the harmony of the ecological reserve. Bathrooms have bamboo showers that provide privacy while giving the feeling of extending out into the garden. You'll sleep comfortably and wake to the sound of birdsong or waves crashing on the shoreline. Each Palafito (Stilt) has the spirit of one of the Mexican lottery cards, and within it the symbols and folklore of this traditional game.

Hotelito Desconocido is part of what is called health tourism, it‘s a new tendency of looking after your body, pampering and indulge yourself. There are two restaurants, Nopalito on the beach near the pool for lunch, and the quaint Cantarito Bar and Restaurant with its fantastic view for breakfast and dinner. Menus change daily, the food plentiful, fresh, and mostly seafood and organic fruits and vegetables.

Despite the remote location, there's plenty to see and do here. Rise early for horseback riding along the miles of unspoiled beaches, other activities include biking, windsuring, kayaking and hiking. Take a rowing boat out on the peaceful backwaters and see the amazing variety of wildlife that populates the reserve. You can explore on your own, or request one of the expert guides to reveal the local secrets. From June to December it is usually possible to observe sea turtles nesting on the beach and participate in the release of the baby turtles to the ocean. Other activities include bird watching tourshiking and mountain biking.
